- 2 ripe avocados
- Juice of ½ lime about 1 tbsp
- ¼ small red onion finely chopped
- ½ tomato finely chopped
- ½ chili pepper finely chopped (optional, for heat)
- 1 tbsp fresh cilantro finely chopped
- ¼ tsp salt or to taste
Cut the avocados in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a mixing bowl. Mash with a fork until you reach your desired texture—smooth or slightly chunky.
Pour in the freshly squeezed lime juice and stir well. This not only enhances the flavor but also helps prevent the avocado from browning.
Add the finely chopped red onion, tomato, chili pepper (if using), cilantro, and salt. Stir until everything is evenly combined.
Taste your guacamole and adjust as needed—add more lime juice for acidity, salt for balance, or chili for extra spice.
Guacamole is best enjoyed fresh. Serve with tortilla chips, tacos, burritos, or as a side for grilled meats. If storing, press plastic wrap directly onto the surface to minimize browning.
Use ripe avocados for the best texture. If the avocados are too firm, let them ripen at room temperature for a day or two.
Lime juice helps prevent browning – Be sure to mix it in immediately after mashing the avocado.
